More Than a Meal —
We Restore Dignity
Founded in 2009, Communities Under the Bridge began with a simple belief: everyone deserves to be seen, known, and loved. Every Saturday morning, our volunteers gather beneath the Congress Avenue Bridge to serve our neighbors experiencing homelessness.
We don't just hand out food — we sit down, share a meal, learn names, and build genuine relationships. That's the heart of everything we do.
- Dignity for every person we serve
- Radical welcome — no barriers to entry
- Community-led, volunteer-powered
- Consistent, weekly presence under the bridge
- Meeting practical needs with compassionate hearts
Programs That Change Lives
Holistic care that addresses not just hunger, but the whole person — body, mind, and spirit.
Saturday Meals
Every Saturday morning, 200+ hot meals are prepared and served under the bridge. Families, volunteers, and neighbors sit together — because breaking bread is how community is built.
Get InvolvedResource Distribution
We provide hygiene kits, clothing, blankets, and essential supplies to those in need. Practical care that meets people right where they are.
Get InvolvedCare & Counseling
Trained volunteers provide emotional support, prayer, and referrals to social services, mental health resources, and housing programs.
Get InvolvedEducation & Skills
From GED prep to job readiness workshops, we equip our neighbors with tools to transform their circumstances and build toward stability.
Get InvolvedVoices from the Bridge
Behind every number is a human being with a story worth telling.
"I felt like a person again."
"Before CUB, I felt invisible. People would walk past me like I wasn't there. But every Saturday, the volunteers came back — same faces, same smiles. They learned my name. They asked about my life. For the first time in years, I felt like a person again."
"They've given me more than I've given."
"I started volunteering thinking I was doing something for 'them.' Three months in, I realize they've given me more than I've given. I've learned about resilience, gratitude, and what community really means. This changed my life too."
"I got the job. I'm in an apartment now."
"The resource kits they gave me helped me get back on my feet. Clean clothes for my job interview. A phone charger so I could stay connected. Small things that meant everything. I got the job. I'm in an apartment now."
Be part of someone's story.
